The hardest thing for me to get over with this immortal soul thing is that people like us who believe that when a person dies, he's like, uh, DEAD, is that we are in the minority BIG TIME. I've seen theologians with doctors degrees, life-long Christians, preachers, etc, state over and over again that we have an immortal soul, that we can not die.
I show them ONE VERSE which clearly proves that they are wrong and they get mad at me; they get angry!!!! So I think: am I being deceived? Is there something that I'm missing?? I'm a truck driver! I do not have near the education that these people have!!
Then this occured to me: God created Eve 'good.' Her genetics were without flaw. This is why her sons and daughters could have children without birth defects because there were no bad genes. She was the smartest woman who ever lived (and I bet she was an absolute knock-out beautiful specimen to behold!) Yet, she fell for a very simple lie from a very clever deceiver.
Thus, how much so are we deceived? We don't have near the brainpower that Adam and Eve had. This is such a powerful deception that it took me 3 months and a lot of prayer to break, plus being chastened 2 times, before I finally realized that this immortal soul thing is the most sadistic, anti-christ, doctrine of demons, anti -God, lie that ever was, and will get more people 'their part in the lake of fire' than anything else (not to take away the fact that salvation is a free gift and that most people who enter the kingdom of heaven will probably have to explain to God why they believed Satan's first lie).
It's easy to make fun of these people and it's hard not to laugh, but I firmly believe that it is such a powerful deception that it takes determination (bible study) plus the power of God to destroy it. Here are some ideas, perhaps you know most of them already, but in case you don't, I will share:
IMMORTAL SOUL DOCTRINE
1) God is going to share His immortality with most of mankind so he can torment them forever.
2) Christ is not really the "first-fruits" of those "who sleep."
3) We don't need the power of God to be raised from the dead; we can do it ourselves. Thus, denying the power that God used to raise Jesus.
4) Denies death, thus the need for a resurrection from the, uhh..uhhh....DEAD, thus denies our hope for eternal life.
5) Denies the need for there to even be a God. Hey God, we're inherently immortal, we don't need your power to sustain us or raise us.
6) Makes Jesus a liar.
Mat 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in Gehenna.
Not so, Christ! We are tripartate mini-gods and you cannot destroy us! And btw, didn't you mean to say "HELL"! What's up with this gehenna stuff??? Don't you know the KJV is flawless!
7) Makes Plato to be correct and Solomon wrong. BTW this is no-coincidence. God knew this argument was to be had)
8) Makes God a liar (He claims that He's the only self-sustaining immortal being in existance....THE AUDACITY! Blasphemy!! YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT GOD!)
The hellfire doctrine is a dangerous thing to believe in AND IT HARDENS HEARTS. I saw a certain preacher, the one with all the big fancy charts behind him displaying the 'end times.' I kid you not, either I'm judging wrong or he seems to take pleasure in the fact that his enemies (the ones Christ says we're supposed to love) are going to burn in hell forever. He says he can wait to yell " C-YAAAAAAAAAA" before they're thrown in the pit.
Absolutely a joke, an abomination, and made me want to vomit.
Plus I keep hearing the SADISTIC NOTION from Christians that God took the Jews out of the ovens in Nazi Europe, where they died, and is going to put 6,000,000 of them in an oven where they DON'T DIE.
Do they forget that Jesus is THE Jewish High Priest???? The Rabbi????
Alot of people (no names, let God sort em out) are going to discover that the lake of fire is much hotter than their "Hell."
It's hard not to get mad, oh brother it is hard not to get fuming mad. I pray and pray, Lord, take this anger from me. Let me not judge my brother.
God be with you.
