We Just Don't Think Like We Should

I love Jesus Christ very very much and yet have a personality that is easily deceived, the good thing is my heart is pure enough before God that He always leads me out of deception. I can't tell you how many times I have fell for things after listening to tapes, CDs and the timing is perfect to find this because I just got done listening to Andrew Wommack's CD on anger management and was actually thinking about believing some of the beliefs until I really sat down and thought about it.

He said that anyone under the age 70 that dies it was by Satan. Many other really weird things. We gave all of our money away for a ministry and almost filed.

I love your website and I need your website. There are some of us who have been Christians for many years, totally are in love with Jesus and yet just don't think like we should. Please keep on doing what you are doing, looking out for the sheep.

God is the ultimate judge yet we are told to not be deceived. I am going to start again reading my Bible and listening to Chuck Swindoll. The same day I was listening to Wommack, Chuck Swindoll was talking about false teachers.

I am giving back the CDs and tapes to my mother-in-law and sticking with the scriptures.

Thanks for the e-mail. Actually what I wrote was just the tip of the iceberg. There have been numerous times that I have been sucked in hook-line-and-sinker only to have the Holy Spirit in my time of seeking Him and the truth show me things.

The biggest one is this, it has got to line up with the Word of God. My biggest red flag was when I would get the Voice of the Martyr magazine. Here thousands upon thousands of Christians who are not rich, but very poor are loving Jesus, evangelizing and being tortured and killed for their zeal and witness. I don't think the prosperity message would go over very well in those countries or with those people.

Here is when I really sat down and thought about it. Many ministries, preachers are asking us to send them a seed. Usually a pretty big seed so we can expect our harvest of 100 fold. If they were doing the same thing, that means they would be even more mega rich than they are and they wouldn't need to be asking for money. When I read the Bible it talks about suffering for Christ, how many sermons do you hear on suffering for Christ?

There are many poverty-ridden Christians here and around the world totally in love with Jesus and totally trusting God for food, etc. They are loving their neighbors and making a difference.

Yet we are taught that if we are poor we do not have enough faith, didn't plant enough seed, are not a good witness to the world and yet what I see beneath that is greed.

This subtle greed for more and more and how many times do you hear messages about planting a seed of martyrdom, or love, or kindness, etc. All I can say is to be in a church where the offering isn 't 45 minutes long, where the pastor preaches from the Bible and you are encouraged to read your Bible and bring your Bible.

Another red flag is when they are constantly saying or saying a lot: God told me, God said. Oh ya another red flag, what percentage of reading your Bible are you doing compared to reading other people's books even about the Bible or listening to CDs or watching Christian television. I find life my life has gone much more peaceful when I have sought the Lord myself and read the Bible and realized that my heart's desire is to love sincerely, the Lord and people.

I want to be a Godly (Biblical wife and mother). I want to have faith but in God's power and in HIs soverignty. I am a very charismatic person and an extrovert, love worship and love emotional things so I was a prime person for Satan to try to bring confusion to. Thank God He knows I desire above all to have a relationship with Him and am seeking Him for that and not for the gifts. I need to keep my heart free from unforgivness, judgments, bitterness and just pray for people who are deceived because I have been there and when you are deceived you absolutely think you are right and are not open to listening to constructive criticism about things.

There are amazing ministries like Dawson McCallister, helping thousands of teenagers. They are the ones who really need the money to help fund their prayer rooms, telephone call-in centers and I encourage you to send money to places like that or Voice of the Martyrs where the money is really being put to good use. I wonder if any of these ministries that have millions of dollars help support places like these.

Find out where the money is going. Don't fall for the "God told them that 100 or 1000 people can give $1000 and if you do your mortgage will be supernaturally paid." I fell for that one. The Bible says that with hard work comes wealth, it's not the Christian lottery system. Money gained by greed is not Biblical.

Read the Gospels, read the Epistles, read the Bible and see for yourself what Paul and the others are admonishing us to do. Feed the poor, help the widows, live lives worthy of the calling of Christ. Be wise.

If you are a woman and you are tempted to send your rent or other bill money in to a ministry that says even your last $100 dollars to send because God told them such and such and you know that your husband would get mad please don't do itl Just sit down and think God wants you to pay your bills. God wants you to be a giver but do it with a cheerful heart and not under compulsion.

There is a great book by Jim Bakker after his fall and repentence called the "Prosperity Message" which is what he preached. He exposes it. Remember a lot of the messages that are being preached would never ever fly in most countries. It plays into our greed and America's greed.

I appreciate this website because I realize that the writer of it is only telling us to Stop, Look and Listen. Read what is being said and actually think about what is being said.
