What a significant and

drastic change! Carolena

and Douglas both feel that

God brought them together

and has continued to shower

blessings throughout the years,

with this, the birth of beautiful

Bronté Carolena Larsen, as the

crowning blessing (to date). They

look forward to whatever blessed

surprise God has in store for them

next (He is very creative and

gracious, isn't He?)...

Carolena's due date was Tuesday,

December 19, 2000, and that date

came and went with only a few minor birth pangs. The actual labor began Sabbath morning, December 23, at about 7:00 a.m. Carolena woke Douglas with a cry of: "It's starting! It's starting!" He nearly struck the ceiling until she clarified that only part of the mucous plug had emerged (but that the real show could commence at any moment).

Within an hour all the bags were packed (of course, they thought the bags had been packed for the last three weeks, but you know how those last-minute items can add up!). Carolena's family arrived around 5 p.m. (Mom, Aunt Gina, and brother Michael) and set into a dervish whirl of cooking and her mom repeatedly declaring: "I think you're in labor! Get thee to a hospital! IMMEDIATELY!" Carolena pooh-poohed her until about 6 p.m. when for the first time a pattern began to show, her contractions at or about every ten minutes.
