eBook - Deceiving the Elect - Book 1: Quickening Dreams - by Douglas Christian Larsen. An intense beginning to an exciting new series, Larsen sets up the ultimate battle between good and evil for the control of the entire world. A war thousands of years old on this planet, much more ancient in the vast cosmos. Guillotines in America, alien abductions and a proliferation of UFO invasions, what is happening has all been prophesied, and as love in the world grows cold, the quickening dreams may be the last bastion of reason in an increasingly insane world.
A novel for non-Christians, illustrating that everyone and anyone may have a relationship with God, and also as a warning to Christians: even the Elect of God CAN be deceived. As Jesus said, DO NOT BE DECEIVED.
Douglas Christian Larsen is the writer of more than seven novels, with DE – Book 1: Quickening Dreams, the first of his novels in print. The author is currently completing work on Book 2 in the series, "All Power in Lying Signs and Wonders."

Reviews of the Novel from all around the web:
FIVE STARS - I’m still surprised at just how much this novel is a sleeper. Quickening Dreams has to be the sleeper of the last 10 years, or more. It is engrossing and exciting, and far better than books like the Left Behind series. Better plot and characters and humor. I love the romantic thread that is throughout the book. I’ve given this book to several of my friends and family in hardback and now I’m going to email a bunch of these to people I know and love. I’m eagerly looking forward to the next book in the series and I thank the author with my whole heart for putting out this book, and I hope it comes out in audio next.
FIVE STARS - This was my first fiction novel and to my surprise I thoroughly enjoyed it. The author has tremendous thinking, imaginative, and writing skills. I'll be reading it again before Book 2 comes out just in case I missed something the first time. The realization of evil all around us is vividly revealed before your eyes as different characters, personalities and types of lifestyles unfold and become real. The change in story lines will keep you on your toes. Makes for great reading.
FIVE STARS – Deceiving the Elect the page turner! I bought this book because I read it has the page turning effect of the Left Behind Series. I was not disappointed. From page one you will feel like you're spying on the lives of characters, both good and detestable and you will get caught up in the circumstances that mold them. When you turn the last page you'll be yearning for Book 2. This book is a must read!
FIVE STARS - I've read a quite a few Christian novels and I have to say that reading this one was a unique experience. It exposes so much of what really goes on in the world today and covers so many things that many writers just don't have the guts to touch upon! I found it impossible to put down and took it with me everywhere until I was done. Even if one does not believe or agree with everything in this novel (hey, how often do people react nicely to the truth?), it's a fascinating work that'll pull you right into it and you just have to fall in love with the style and characters, regardless of your beliefs. While Stacey is trying to pick up the pieces of his broken life, Micheal and Joshua search for a perfect church, and Bronte is just too confused to focus too long on reality and many others are too disillusioned and spiritually traumatized to even care anymore, it's awesome to see God at work and faithful in His promises.
FIVE STARS - The best end-times depiction yet written. I've been dissapointed with every end-time novel I've read, 'Left behind' etc., until I read Douglas Larsen's 'Deceiving the Elect'. It is greatly imaginative yet coincides in every way with Bible truth as I know it. The writing is inspired, I believe by God, and Larsen's immense talent for gripping, intricate storytelling makes it one of the best read I've found in years. It seems to be the first in a series and I can't wait to read the next one. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves literature, whether or not you have a faith in God. This writer speaks to the human condition and people everywhere can relate to the struggles of his characters. Larsen breathes life into characters that make you laugh, cry, hurt and rejoice right along with them. These are characters you will enjoy spending time with over and over again. I know I do. So whoever you are, wherever you are, count yourself lucky that you have found this book and enjoy the journey that awaits you!
FIVE STARS - An Incredible Work! I read this book twice and I laughed and cried throughout as I read it. It dives deep into the lives of its' characters and leaves you feeling like you know the people, with whom you end up laughing, for whom you end up hurting in sympathy, and in some cases, on whose behalf you are roused to fury. As Stacey (one of the main characters) struggles to survive the debilitating depression of a failed life, Bronte tries to escape the reality around her as her delicate fingers passionately create ethereal magic on the keys of her piano (those two characters meeting each other is one of my favorite parts of the story). Micheal, Joshua and Grampy Doc are hilarious characters I also fell in love with throughout this novel. For me, reading this work was an amazing experience. One of the things that make it so moving is how real it is as far as portraying the world we live in today (as bad as it is), while still providing ample hope for the very near future!
FIVE STARS - Deceiving The Elect - Opens Your Eyes . Not only is this story brilliantly written, and the characters believable, but this story is a real eye opener. Many times, when reading other stories that have a similar theme, I felt rather confused from not only a personal standpoint, but also from a biblical standpoint. Often other books of this ilk have left me thinking, no way could that happen, and no way does that have any basis in reality. However, when reading this book, the characters are so believable with their very human flaws, natures and passions. Everything that they think, say and do is believable in that I could actually imagine those things happening, or being said or thought by real people. The story shows how easily one can be suckered into something that is erroneous, and not only that, but how people can be suckered into it without even realising that that is what has happened to them. The consequences to people in the book are the same as they are in real life and as devastating, and if people think it's not happening out there now, well read the book and then see if life does not imitate art. The story clearly shows that it is dangerous to hold any human in such high esteem as to let them dictate what you believe is right and just, and in this world, as in the book the majority of tele evangelists seem to have the monopoly in this arena of behaving like godly men when in fact they are spiders spinning little webs to catch people's minds, hearts and wallets, and this is reflected so well in this book. I believe the author has shown clearly how the meglomaniacs in this book, as in life, with their own agendas, seem able to take biblical truths and twist them into unrecognisable form, which sensible, normally discerning people then somehow manage to swallow as truth. The sadness is that it is so easy for them to do this inside a world where people are hurting and looking for hope, and the author has shown through the more unscrupulous characters in the story how easy it is for the lies and deceit to be perpetrated in real life. This book, I believe, is a warning, because when transferred into the real world, and compared to what is happening in our world, the scenes are not dissimilar. I believe the author of this story, in a way, through his writing, is saying, 'Hey guys there's a wreck up ahead, slow down, proceed with caution least you become a part of the wreckage too.' In life, as in the book, I can see the Staceys, Brontes, Michaels, Joshuas, Docs, Jacks, Janines and all the others with their personal tics, strengths and weaknesses, proclivities etc. I can see people I know well inside some of these characters, even the less scrupulous characters in the story. Bottom line, this book is an incredibly good read and I hope to see more of the story with the characters that have become dear to my heart. I highly reccommend that people read this book.
